What is SYEP -- Summer Youth Employment Program

Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is funded by the Department of Labor to give young people, 16-24 years old, the chance to work and learn useful job skills.  It is an opportunity for you to earn while you learn. It is also an opportunity for you to build professional relationships that could lead to a part-time or full-time job.

During summer 2010, ACAP’s Summer Youth Employment Program provided 200 hours of employment to 86 youth in Alameda County’s unincorporated Eden Area. Youth represented at 24 worksites, including everything from summer camps to a contracting apprenticeship. Approximately 10 youth were offered permanent jobs as a result of the SYEP.  Sites included:

Bayfair Mall
Dollar Tree
Factory 2U
